I don't know about this whole "Si Labs" thing. It doesn't look like they would provide me with enough shelf space for my books.

a little ancient history

I sent this to fort-awesome a while ago. I thought I'd put it here because it seemed (in)appropriate.

Today I went out to lunch with some of the guys here at SiLabs who ride motorcycles. That is, we left at lunch time, went for a short fast twisty ride, ended up at some hole in the wall, ate, and rode back in about two hours.

Before leaving the restaurant, I swapped bikes with one of the guys for the ride back. On the way back, I could hear the exhaust note of my bike over his (his bike's exhaust is damn quiet, and mine is a track pipe, i.e., quite loud). I thought to myself "damn it man, don't be afraid to rev the thing! The ram air isn't even coming on yet!"

Then it dawned on me: this must be what it's like to watch someone else fuck your wife. I wonder if people who do that sort of thing have an irresistable urge to be like, "c'mon man, you're doing it all wrong!" I guess I'm just too much of a control freak to be a swinging voyeur.

hooray for the assault weapons ban sunset

As you may be aware, the sunset of the "assault weapons" ban came and went two weeks ago. To celebrate, I got rid of my AK's ridiculous thumbhole stock in favor of the real pistol-grip-and-buttstock configuration.

Jack's blog did it. It broke me. Upon reading his blog, I became convinced that you, dear reader, might actually be interested enough in the mess of trivialities that is my life to make the whole damn project worthwhile.
